2025 ESPYS: Nominees Announced, Voting Open

The 2025 ESPY Awards, presented by Capital One, are scheduled for July 16th, offering sports fans the opportunity to cast their votes and help determine which prominent athletes will take home the coveted honors.

Following his NBA championship win, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a strong contender for additional accolades, having already earned recognition as regular-season MVP and Finals MVP. The Oklahoma City Thunder guard has received nominations in two categories: Best Athlete – Men`s Sports and Best NBA Player. The Oklahoma City Thunder are also included among the nine teams nominated for Best Team, having secured their place after a decisive Game 7 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

A number of athletes are nominated for their standout performances at the recent Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. Simone Biles and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone are recognized in the Best Athlete – Women`s Sports category, while Ilona Maher and Ezra Frech are nominees for Best Breakthrough Athlete and Best Athlete with a Disability, respectively.

A`ja Wilson, who was a dual winner in 2024 for Best Athlete – Women`s Sports and Best WNBA Player, is once again a top nominee in both categories this year. Saquon Barkley has earned nominations in three separate categories: Best Athlete – Men`s Sports, Best Play, and Best NFL Player. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is also nominated in both the Best NFL Player and Best Athlete – Men`s Sports categories, being the only other NFL player besides Barkley to achieve this.
