Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz shared his thoughts on reaching the final of the Rome Masters tournament. In the semi-final, he defeated Italian Lorenzo Musetti with a score of 6/3, 7/6(4).
According to Alcaraz, Musetti was feeling the pressure because he was playing at home in front of his fans.
“Musetti has been in this situation before,” Alcaraz commented. “He`s playing in a Masters semi-final for the third consecutive time. Of course, it`s difficult when you play at home and really want to win. You have these thoughts in your mind, the desire to reach the final in front of your supporters. And those thoughts can potentially work against you.”
Alcaraz observed, “He made a lot of errors at the start of the match; he seemed very tense. I noticed that. And I tried to take advantage of it, to capitalize on his mistakes. I aimed to play smartly and reliably, which is why I managed to win the first set,” Alcaraz stated during his post-match press conference.
