Alex Pereira on Nearly Backing Out of UFC 313

Recent comments from UFC commentator Joe Rogan suggested Alex Pereira fought Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 with a broken hand and norovirus. However, Pereira clarified that while he wasn`t in top condition, his hands were not broken.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Pereira acknowledged facing difficulties before the fight. He avoided making excuses for his loss or diminishing Ankalaev`s victory, stating everyone faces challenges. Pereira hinted at significant issues leading up to the fight, serious enough to make him consider withdrawing.

Pereira described the bout as one of the most challenging due to pre-fight circumstances. Despite these issues and the loss, he expressed no regrets about competing. He drew parallels to past fights where he overcame adversity, though this time, it didn`t lead to a win.

After reviewing UFC 313, Pereira believes he won with a score of 48-47, claiming victory in rounds 1, 3, and 5. He is determined to have a rematch with Ankalaev and is not interested in fighting anyone else. Pereira feels he has earned this rematch but is awaiting confirmation from the UFC.

Ankalaev has mentioned August as a possible rematch date, suggesting the UFC has already made an offer. Pereira confirmed he hasn`t received an official offer yet but is open to fighting in August.

Pereira is eager for the rematch, anticipating a different fight outcome. He confidently stated his ability to dominate Ankalaev in their next encounter, even aiming for a knockout.
