Alexander Zverev Comments on Novak Djokovic’s Recent Form and Desire

German tennis player Alexander Zverev recently shared his perspective on the current state of Novak Djokovic`s game. The world No. 2 was questioned about whether the 24-time Grand Slam champion still possesses the capability to win the upcoming Roland Garros tournament.

“He only withdrew from this specific event [in Rome], correct? He participated in all the others. Perhaps he wasn`t performing at his usual peak level or exactly how he might have preferred, but these things happen in the sport. When you are a top-ranked player and you don`t achieve victory at a tournament, you naturally return home feeling somewhat frustrated and disappointed,” Zverev noted.

He continued, “I still firmly believe that when he is playing at his best, he is undeniably one of the most formidable competitors anywhere in the world. His fundamental tennis abilities are absolutely beyond question. The critical factor, in my opinion, is whether he still maintains that intense desire to push himself vigorously in practice sessions. That is a personal question only he can truly answer; it`s not something I can provide insight into.”

“From the perspective of pure tennis skills, he is superior to everyone else,” Zverev concluded during his press conference held at the tournament in Rome.
