Amanda Anisimova Forced to Retire in Charleston Semi-final Against Kenin

World No. 16 American player Amanda Anisimova withdrew during the first set of her WTA 500 Charleston (USA) tournament semi-final match. The score was 5-2 in favor of her compatriot, world No. 44 Sofia Kenin. The match duration was 29 minutes.

Earlier, in the quarter-final against Emma Navarro, Anisimova took a medical timeout due to blisters. `My skin just tore. I taped my fingers in the last two matches, the physio said she would do it again, and I got upset. Honestly, I hate taking a medical timeout because of blisters. It hurt when I served for the match, and it was really necessary,` – said Anisimova.

The reason for Anisimova`s withdrawal from the semi-final is currently unknown.

In the Charleston tournament final, Kenin will play against another American, world No. 4 Jessica Pegula.
