Former world No. 1 Andy Roddick has stated that he considers Carlos Alcaraz the main favorite for this year`s Wimbledon Championships.
“I consider him the clear favorite, and I wouldn`t risk betting against him,” Roddick said on his podcast, Quick Served with Andy Roddick.
He acknowledged the competitive landscape, adding, “Of course, anything can happen in tennis. Jannik Sinner, for instance, could certainly re-enter the picture – we shouldn`t forget he remains a top-tier player. He`s currently world No. 1 and has been demonstrating top-level tennis for a long time, particularly on hard courts.”
However, Roddick emphasized that recent form shouldn`t overshadow pre-tournament expectations. “But we shouldn`t read too much into single matches. Alcaraz was already the favorite for Wimbledon even before the London grass swing started, and his recent performances have merely reinforced that position. I believe most people would concur with that assessment,” Roddick concluded.>
