Andy Roddick, a former world No. 1 and the 2003 US Open champion, believes that 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic can be considered one of the favorites for Roland Garros, provided he plays well in his initial matches.
“We have very short memories,” Roddick stated. “All we remember is his loss to Arnaldi [in Madrid]. But in Australia, he defeated Alcaraz, and he played Zverev, and people said if he were healthy, he would be the favorite. Zverev was world No. 2 or 3.”
Roddick added that Novak Djokovic has a unique ability to quickly reset his expectations. “If he performs well in his first couple of matches at Roland Garros, we`ll quickly see him back atop the list of favorites,” he explained. “He can reboot faster than anyone else.”
