Aspinall Frustrated, Demands Jon Jones Fight Be Booked Promptly

Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall seems to share the frustration of many fans regarding the situation surrounding Jon Jones.

For seven months, Aspinall has been vocal about his desire for a title unification bout against Jones, the reigning two-division champion. However, despite Jones`s dominant victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last November, the highly anticipated matchup with Aspinall still appears far from being finalized.

During an appearance on the High Performance Podcast, Aspinall was asked what steps he could take to make the fight happen. He responded that he personally couldn`t do anything, believing the delay is primarily a financial matter from Jones`s perspective. Aspinall reiterated his willingness to face Jones “whenever, wherever he wants.”

Aspinall also commented on Jones`s career stage, noting his age (around 37-38) and the significant wear and tear accumulated over years of fighting. He clarified that this observation isn`t negative but simply acknowledging the reality of taking many hits over a long, distinguished career, a reality he assumes Jones is well aware of.

Following his win over Miocic, Jones`s future plans have been uncertain, with retirement being an option, or potentially fighting Aspinall if the financial terms are substantial enough.

While Aspinall understands Jones`s desire to secure a significant payday towards the end of his career, he admits to becoming weary of the prolonged wait for Jones`s commitment and constantly being asked about the situation.

Aspinall asserted that based on statistics, he presents the most dangerous challenge to Jones, especially given his size and credentials at this point in Jones`s career. He believes Jones is smart enough to recognize this, which is why he likely demands substantial financial compensation for the fight. Aspinall concluded by expressing his extreme boredom with the ongoing discussion, stating unequivocally, “I`ve had enough. We either need to fight, or I need to move on to something else.”
