World No. 10 Ben Shelton commented on his Wimbledon second-round match against Rinky Hijikata, which he won with a score of 6/2, 7/5, 6/4. The match famously lasted only 70 seconds after it was resumed on the second day.
The game had been suspended the previous day with the score standing at 6/2, 7/5, 5/4 in Shelton`s favor. Shelton expressed his frustration with the decision to halt play at that point.
“It`s weird for me to play a match over two days, but then only be out there for, what was it… 55 seconds today,” Shelton said in his on-court interview. “I was hoping to hit a couple of groundstrokes at least. Looks like I`ll have to go to the practice courts.”
He then addressed the spectators directly: “Sorry you guys didn`t really get to watch much tennis.”
