Ben Whittaker resolved one controversy in his rematch with Liam Cameron, only to find himself embroiled in another immediately after his victory.
Six months after their initial bout ended in a draw when both fighters went over the ropes, Whittaker and Cameron finally settled their rivalry. In Birmingham, England, Whittaker (9-0-1) defeated Cameron (27-6-1, 1 NC) by a second-round knockout on Sunday. The fight concluded when Whittaker staggered Cameron with a powerful right hand, followed by a rapid series of punches that prompted the referee to halt the match.

Following the fight, Whittaker faced accusations of spitting in the direction of Cameron’s corner, leading to a new wave of controversy. He addressed these allegations in a post-fight interview with Sky Sports.
“It was just emotion, I was just like: ‘Yeah, come on!’” Whittaker explained. “If a bit of dribble came out… he knows I would never do something like that intentionally.”
Video evidence appears inconclusive regarding whether Whittaker actually spat at Cameron’s corner.
Whittaker, a silver medalist in boxing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, has been recognized as a rising talent in professional boxing since 2022, largely due to his captivating and unconventional fighting style.
