For the first time in fifteen years, veteran middleweight Brad Tavares is not included in the UFC`s immediate plans.
Tavares, who first entered the octagon back in 2010, has been removed from the official UFC roster following the recent completion of his contract with the promotion.
While it remains possible that Tavares could eventually sign a new agreement with the UFC, for the time being, he has been taken off the roster list as he is currently out of contract.
If this marks the end of his time with the organization, Tavares will exit as one of the most enduring veterans in recent UFC history. He began his UFC journey as a 5-0 prospect and concludes this chapter with a professional record of 21 wins and 10 losses.
In his last four appearances, Tavares maintained a 2-2 record, securing significant victories over former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman and submitting grappling specialist Gerald Meerschaert in his most recent bout in April.
The 37-year-old fighter, originally from Hawaii and now based in Las Vegas, built an impressive career facing a considerable list of top competitors. His opponents included four current or former middleweight champions: Chris Weidman, Dricus du Plessis, Israel Adesanya, and Robert Whittaker.
It is presently unclear whether Tavares will ultimately agree to terms on a new contract to return to the UFC or if he might explore signing with a different mixed martial arts organization. Currently, Tavares holds free agent status as his UFC contract concluded without a new deal finalized.
