Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford Fight Date and Location Updated

The highly anticipated boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford has been rescheduled and will take place on a new date, with the location still to be determined.

According to promoter Turki Alalshikh, the super middleweight title fight is now set for September 13th. This is a change from the originally announced date of September 12th at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The new venue has not yet been finalized.

Potential cities in consideration to host the event include Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York. This bout is part of Alalshikh’s Riyadh Season series and is notable as the first boxing promotion under Dana White’s TKO Boxing banner.

Reports suggest the primary reason for moving the event from Allegiant Stadium was a conflict with a college football game scheduled at the venue on September 13th.

The decision to hold the fight on September 13th is particularly interesting as it falls on the same day as UFC 320, which is scheduled to happen in Guadalajara, Mexico. If the Canelo-Crawford fight takes place in a North American city, it could potentially compete directly with the UFC event. Holding the fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, however, would likely result in an earlier broadcast time that avoids a direct clash with the UFC pay-per-view in North America.

Neither promoter, Turki Alalshikh nor Dana White, has publicly commented on the potential scheduling conflict with UFC 320.

Canelo Alvarez (63-2-2) recently solidified his status as the undisputed super middleweight champion again by defeating William Scull on May 3rd. Alvarez had previously vacated the IBF belt, which Scull subsequently held. The Canelo vs. Scull fight itself received criticism for its lack of action, reportedly having one of the lowest punch outputs in a 12-round bout since 1985.

Terence Crawford (41-0) is making a significant move up two weight classes from super welterweight to challenge Canelo. Crawford maintains an undefeated professional record, with his most recent victory being a unanimous decision win over Israil Madrimov last August.
