World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz expressed his aspiration to be a role model for young athletes.
“For me, the most important thing in life is being a kind and good person. I want to inspire kids just like Nadal and Federer inspired me. They were my idols, and I always saw them as approachable and kind individuals.”
“Tennis has drastically changed in the last two decades. The game is much faster now, and I believe it will continue to evolve. I hope to influence behavior both on and off the court. A smile can be a weapon against your opponents, because when I smile, I enjoy myself and play my best tennis,” the Spaniard stated in a Louis Vuitton interview.
The 21-year-old also admitted that he sometimes makes incorrect decisions under pressure during matches.
“It`s important to acknowledge that I won`t always play perfectly and to keep trying. When facing difficulties, you have to fight to achieve your goals. My approach is to emulate what the greatest players in history have always done.”
“Sometimes, I`ve been leading in a match and feeling good, but then I`ve lowered my intensity and ended up losing. I`ve learned a lot from those experiences. I believe in crucial moments, I often rely on instinct and do what feels natural, which is wrong. Maybe I should stick to tactics more.”
