World No. 15 Casper Ruud has solidified his position as a dominant force on clay, leading all players in clay-court victories since 2020. The three-time Grand Slam finalist has amassed an impressive 125 wins on the surface over this period.
His recent triumph at the Mutua Madrid Open marked a significant milestone in his career. By winning his first ATP Masters 1000 title in the Spanish capital, Ruud became only the second player ever to make the Madrid event their maiden Masters crown. The only other player to achieve this was David Nalbandian in 2007.
This victory is also historic for Norwegian tennis. Casper Ruud is the first player from Norway to ever claim an ATP Masters 1000 title, reaching a new pinnacle for his country in the sport.
Reflecting on his achievement, Casper Ruud stated: “I`ve been working towards this for a long time – I dreamed of it since childhood.”
