Norwegian tennis star Casper Ruud, currently ranked 15th in the world, shared insights into his method for setting and working towards goals at each tournament he competes in.
Approaching every tournament with the sole goal of winning can lead to significant disappointment. It`s important to set realistic objectives. For instance, saying `I want to win all clay tournaments` is wrong because I know I cannot do that. Only Nadal has managed this, and even he suffered defeats.
I considered reaching the quarterfinals of the Madrid tournament a very realistic goal that I could achieve. And if that happens, of course, I`ll need to move on and aim for something more. But, upon reaching the quarterfinals, I won`t feel excessive pressure.
At the ongoing Masters tournament in Madrid, taking place from April 23 to May 4, Casper Ruud has successfully advanced to the fourth round. There, he is scheduled to face American Taylor Fritz in a match planned for April 29.
