Coco Gauff Comments on Early Wimbledon 2025 Exit

Two-time Grand Slam champion Coco Gauff has shared her thoughts following her first-round elimination from Wimbledon 2025. Seeded second, Gauff was defeated by Ukrainian player Dayana Yastremska, ranked World No. 42, in straight sets with a score of 6-7(3), 1-6.

Gauff expressed her feelings after the match: “I`m trying to stay positive. After the match, I definitely had a tough time in the locker room. I don`t like losing. I know my team will tell me, `You had a good run at Roland Garros, don`t be so upset.` But I genuinely dislike losing.”

She continued, “I`m a bit disappointed with how I performed today. I felt I could have played slightly better during the crucial moments in the tie-break. This feels particularly frustrating after Roland Garros, where I felt I had learned a lot about playing tie-breaks. So, yeah. Obviously, I`m not going to dwell on this loss, as I want to perform well at the US Open. Maybe losing in the first round isn`t the absolute worst outcome, as it gives me more time to recover. But, yeah, it definitely sucks.”
