World No. 4 Coco Gauff of the USA shared her thoughts ahead of her WTA 1000 semifinal match in Madrid, Spain. She is set to face World No. 2 Iga Swiatek of Poland.
Speaking at a press conference, Gauff acknowledged Swiatek`s formidable presence on clay but expressed readiness to approach the upcoming match with a specific strategy.
“Obviously, Iga is strong on clay, and on other surfaces too, but especially on clay,” Gauff stated. “The last two matches were on hard court, so I will approach the new meeting differently, as a different match. But I hope that I can play great tennis, just like in the quarterfinals.”
Expressing confidence in her current form and chances for victory, Gauff added:
“I think I have a good chance to win. Overall, I`m getting better and better with each match. I`m looking forward to the next match, I`ll be happy to play one of the best in the world.”
