Conchita Martinez, coach of world No. 7 Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva, has shared her thoughts on the 17-year-old athlete`s preparation for the upcoming clay court season.
Martinez stated, “Mirra is a natural talent on clay. She moves exceptionally well on this surface, making any adaptation primarily psychological. While rallies may become longer, the core of her game shouldn`t drastically change. My aim is for her to maintain her aggressive style.”
She further added, “We are focusing on diversifying her game, incorporating the ability to hit with more height when needed, but always with an aggressive intent. Whenever the opportunity arises to step into the court and dictate play, she needs to seize it, regardless of whether it`s on clay or hard courts,” Martinez mentioned in an interview with Tennis Channel.
