Conor McGregor Sets Stadium Requirement for UFC Return, Calls Out Michael Chandler

Conor McGregor is once again capturing headlines.

The biggest name in the history of mixed martial arts, who has been sidelined for nearly four years, has revealed his condition for stepping back into the UFC octagon. Following the significant business success of WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, McGregor took to Twitter to specify what it would take for him to return.

I’ll only come back to a stadium.

“The Notorious” was originally slated to face Michael Chandler, his fellow coach on The Ultimate Fighter, in the main event of UFC 303 – the promotion’s yearly International Fight Week card – this past June. However, the scheduled fight was canceled just weeks before the event due to a toe injury sustained by McGregor.

Immediately after his tweet about returning to a stadium, McGregor sent a direct message to Chandler.

Iron Mike Chandler. Unfinished business.

Michael Chandler quickly confirmed his strong interest in the renewed callout. The former Bellator champion responded shortly after McGregor`s posts, signaling his readiness.

Unfinished business loading….

Chandler elaborated further through a series of posts on Threads.

Dust off the old contract and add some new ink… I’m ready tomorrow.

YOUR WORD IS YOUR BOND, IF YOUR WORD IS NO GOOD THEN EVENTUALLY YOU ARE NO GOOD.

During his extensive layoff since his last appearance – a stoppage loss via a severe leg injury against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021 – McGregor has been active in ventures outside fighting. The former two-division titleholder acquired part-ownership in BKFC and has expressed intentions regarding a potential run for President of Ireland.

Chandler`s most recent outing in the octagon was a TKO defeat against Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314 earlier this month.
