World No. 11, Russia`s Daniil Medvedev, shared his thoughts on his initial performance at the `Masters` series tournament in Rome. In his second-round match, he defeated Great Britain`s Cameron Norrie with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
“Honestly, it`s always a bit challenging to play here, and that`s exactly why whoever finds their tennis level for this particular week can win the tournament, like I did two years ago. Two years ago, there were bad bounces here, but I managed to find some confidence and won the tournament because of it. Maybe on a good, ideal court in Madrid, in ideal conditions, a clay-court specialist would have beaten me.”
He continued, “I felt great today; it was windy, which made it tough to play, but I had an excellent match. I liked everything about it and hope to continue playing this way in upcoming matches.”
