Filipino tennis player Alexandra Eala commented on her second-round match at the tournament in Madrid, Spain, where she was defeated by world number two from Poland, Iga Swiatek, with a score of 6/4, 4/6, 2/6.
Eala had previously scored a surprising victory over Swiatek at the tournament in Miami, USA.
Reflecting on the match, Eala stated: “I am happy with the match, with how I played and fought. Obviously, I was in a good situation when I took the first set and had a break lead. But you have to understand that I am not alone on the court; there is an opponent on the other side. Moreover, she is a multiple Roland Garros champion.” Eala added, “Iga played a good match. You have to learn from moments like these.”
When asked about the difference between this match and their previous encounter in Miami, Eala commented: “Probably the difference was that in the important moments, she played better. Her level was slightly higher than mine today.”
