Olympic champion in doubles in 2016, Elena Vesnina, commented on Andrey Rublev`s new coaching partnership with Marat Safin.
“For Andrey, Marat`s authority is very important: he immensely respects, admires, and listens to him. This is crucial. Marat is in the role of a second coach, so it`s unlikely he will drastically change the training process. Instead, he will likely help Andrey cope with various situations during matches. I believe he will also assist Andrey technically and improve his performance. In any case, having a coach like Marat Safin should definitely be beneficial. We may not see immediate results, but it will undoubtedly give Andrey Rublev a significant boost, first and foremost,” Vesnina said.
