17-year-old Federico Cina, after receiving a wild card to compete at the Miami Masters, shared his thoughts on participating in the prestigious tournament. He faced Grigor Dimitrov in the second round, where he was defeated with a score of 1-6, 4-6.
Cina expressed his excitement about playing at such a high level, stating, “It`s amazing because I always watched [top players] on TV. I had never seen them live before. It`s really cool, and I`m enjoying every moment here.”
When asked about his tennis idol, the young Italian player didn`t hesitate to name Novak Djokovic. “Djokovic is my idol. The way he plays is unsurpassed for me,” Cina revealed.
Reflecting on his recent achievements, Cina mentioned reaching his first Challenger final in Heraklion the previous week, where he won against Aslan Karatsev. “It was my first final at the Challengers. I played great, and it gave me a lot of confidence. I also learned a lot, which is wonderful,” said Cina, as quoted by the official ATP website.
