Former Heavyweight Champion George Foreman Passes Away at 76

Boxing legend and former heavyweight champion George Foreman has died at the age of 76.

Foreman`s family announced his passing on his official Instagram page on Friday night.

“Our hearts are broken,” the family`s statement read. “It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr. He passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. George was a devoted preacher, a loving husband and father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He lived a life characterized by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.”

“A humanitarian, an Olympian, and a two-time heavyweight world champion, he was highly respected – a force for good, a man of discipline and conviction, and a protector of his family legacy, fighting tirelessly to maintain his good name.”

“We are thankful for the outpouring of love and prayers, and respectfully request privacy as we celebrate the extraordinary life of a man we were privileged to call our own.”

Foreman had an impressive professional boxing career with a record of 76 wins and 5 losses, including 68 knockouts, and he held two world heavyweight titles. He famously fought against boxing greats such as Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali, and later in his career, Evander Holyfield. In 1994, at the age of 46, Foreman became the oldest boxer to win the heavyweight title by defeating Michael Moorer.

He was also well-known as the face of the George Foreman Grill, which has sold over 100 million units since 1994. Foreman was inducted into both the International Boxing Hall of Fame and the World Boxing Hall of Fame.
