Manuel Torres achieved the biggest victory of his career, while referee Mike Beltran is facing scrutiny for a questionable late stoppage in the fight.
Torres faced experienced lightweight fighter Drew Dober in the co-main event at UFC Mexico in Mexico City on Saturday night. Torres significantly hurt Dober in the first round. When Dober attempted a desperate single-leg takedown, Torres countered with a barrage of unanswered punches to Dober`s face. Despite Dober offering no defense, referee Beltran stopped the fight at 1:45 of the first round.
The local favorite, Torres, improves his record to 4-1 in the UFC and successfully rebounds from a loss to Ignacio Bahamondes at UFC 306 last September in Las Vegas.
Following the fight`s conclusion, UFC and MMA professional fighters shared their reactions to Torres`s dominant performance and Beltran`s decision to allow the fight to continue for as long as it did.
