World No. 1 Iga Świątek shared her thoughts after advancing to the third round of the WTA 1000 event in Madrid, Spain. In her second-round match, she defeated qualifier Alexandra Eala of the Philippines with a score of 4/6, 6/4, 6/2.
Reflecting on the conditions, Świątek noted, “I feel like my topspin works well here. The courts are quite fast, unlike classic clay courts where the ball bounces much slower.”
“I think you need to approach tactics smartly,” she explained. “Sometimes you need to play with spin, and sometimes hit flatter to make the ball travel fast. I`ll try to balance my game in the next matches.”
Looking ahead to her next opponent, Linda Nosková, the Pole commented, “Matches against Linda are always amazing. I hope the upcoming meeting will be no exception. I just need to focus on my game. Linda is a great player, and I respect her a lot. We`ll see how it goes.”
