Jake Paul has officially been recognized in the world of professional boxing rankings. The fighter known as “The Problem Child” is now listed at number 14 within the World Boxing Association`s (WBA) cruiserweight division.
This notable ranking follows Paul`s recent unanimous decision victory over former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The fight took place last Saturday night in Anaheim, California, at the Honda Center and was promoted by Paul`s own Most Valuable Promotions company.
Securing this position in the rankings brings the 28-year-old closer to potentially fulfilling his ambition of competing for a world championship title. Paul`s professional boxing record now stands at an impressive 12 wins against just 1 loss. His sole defeat was a split decision against Tommy Fury in February 2023.
Since that loss, Paul has put together a strong run, achieving six consecutive victories. Approximately six months after the Fury fight, he defeated former UFC standout Nate Diaz via unanimous decision. He then followed this up with back-to-back first-round knockout wins against Andre August in December 2023 and Ryan Bourland in March 2024.
Paul also competed twice more in 2024. He stopped current BKFC fighter Mike Perry with a dominant sixth-round TKO performance; Perry had stepped in as a replacement for Mike Tyson due to a health issue. The highly anticipated fight against Mike Tyson was later rescheduled to November 2024, where Paul secured another unanimous decision victory in what became one of the most-viewed sports events on Netflix recently.
