Miami Masters champion, Jakub Mensik, admitted that he was on the verge of withdrawing from the tournament right before it started.
“An hour before my first match, I was standing there with the withdrawal form, ready to pull out of the tournament. My knee was hurting badly. Fortunately, the chief umpire went for lunch,” he explained.
“I then went to the physio, and he performed a miracle. Thanks to him, I managed to get on the court, and now I am here,” Mensik said at the award ceremony following the final match.
