World No. 1 and three-time Grand Slam champion Jannik Sinner from Italy commented on the differences he perceives between playing matches during the morning and evening sessions at ATP tournaments.

When asked if he has a preference for playing during the day or at night, Sinner responded, “I don`t know if I prefer playing during the day or in the evening. It depends on who I`m playing against. In the evening, the ball is a bit slower, bounces less, you can hit harder. During the day, you need to use more spin, angles. Every match has its own theme… Considering the first game, I would prefer the evening (laughs). But that can change every day.”

Providing context, Sinner recently defeated Dutchman Jesper de Jong with a score of 6/4, 6/2 in the third round of the Rome Masters on May 12. His next match at the tournament will be against Argentine player Francisco Cerúndolo, the world No. 18.

Sinner also shared his thoughts on the victory over de Jong.

“Physically, the first match went well. I felt quite good,” he stated. “Of course, matches are a bit different. Today I started very well, then I had a dip, which is usually a game and a half. Today it lasted three and a half games, but that`s normal. It`s the second match I`m playing in three and a half months. That`s a long period. Any chance to play again in a tournament is very positive. The fact that I can play a third match is already very, very positive for me and my progress.”
