Former French tennis player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga shared his assessment of the French Open quarter-final match where Serbia`s Novak Djokovic defeated Germany`s Alexander Zverev. Tsonga offered criticism regarding the German player`s approach.
“Essentially, he should be telling himself: `Listen, if you keep playing like this, you`re likely to fail.` Instead of limiting yourself on the forehand, allow yourself to hit freely, step into the court, and take the initiative. Because it was precisely Djokovic`s actions, forcing him to move across the entire court with drop shots, that led to this result. Winning a match with tactics like that is practically impossible. It`s a shame that at a certain point, he doesn`t make the decision to tell himself: `Despite a series of losses, I`m going to give it my absolute all`,” Tsonga commented.
