World No. 12 Daria Kasatkina celebrated her victory over Lauren Davis at the Charleston Open with a score of 6-1, 6-1. This match marked her first appearance competing under the Australian flag.
“I couldn`t stop smiling,” Kasatkina admitted in an on-court interview. “I was a bit tense and nervous before the match because of the changes in my life. But I just couldn`t stop smiling. Thank you to the fans for the incredible support, I`ve received so many messages.”
She added, “The last few years have been tough. I am very happy to be here and to feel this way.”
