Lance Stroll Returns to Aston Martin for Home Canadian GP

Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll is confirmed to return for his home Canadian Grand Prix this weekend in Montreal, after being forced to withdraw from the previous race in Spain due to injury.

Two weeks ago, ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, the team announced on Saturday evening that Stroll, who had qualified 14th, would not race on Sunday due to pain in his hand and wrist which required a procedure.

Aston Martin stated that the recent pain was linked to a medical procedure Stroll previously underwent ahead of the 2023 season for a wrist injury sustained in a cycling incident.

Confirming his return, Aston Martin announced on Wednesday that Stroll is fit to participate in the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend.

Stroll expressed his readiness and excitement for the home race, stating: “I am excited to get back behind the wheel with the team for my home Grand Prix this weekend.”

He added: “I was always going to fight hard to be ready to race in front of the Montreal crowd. I`m feeling good after my procedure and put some laps in at Paul Ricard this week to prepare.”

In a team statement, Aston Martin confirmed: “Lance had a successful medical procedure to resolve the symptoms he has been experiencing and completed some laps in an old F1 car at Paul Ricard earlier this week.”

The statement concluded: “Lance is feeling fit and healthy, and is excited to compete in front of his home crowd.”
