A new fight has been added to the lineup for UFC 316.
The UFC announced on Monday that MarQuel Mederos (10-1) is scheduled to face newcomer Mark Choinski (8-0) in a lightweight bout for the preliminary portion of the event. UFC 316 is set to take place this Saturday, June 8th, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Mederos recently had a scheduled fight at UFC Vegas 107 canceled last Saturday due to illness. Despite the short turnaround, he appears recovered and ready to compete, looking to improve his UFC record to 3-0 after securing decision victories in his first two Octagon appearances.
Choinski makes his promotional debut boasting an undefeated professional record of 8-0. He last competed under the Anthony Pettis FC banner, where he secured a submission win over John Ramirez. His addition to the UFC 316 card required him to withdraw from a previously scheduled bout elsewhere.
UFC 316 is headlined by the highly anticipated men’s bantamweight championship rematch between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley. The co-main event features two-time champion Julianna Peña returning to face Kayla Harrison in a women`s bantamweight title fight.
