Veteran welterweights Neil Magny and Gunnar Nelson, boasting a combined 50 Octagon appearances, are set to face off at UFC 318.
UFC officials recently announced that these long-standing contenders will compete at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on July 19.
This will be Magny`s 35th fight under the UFC banner. He is looking to rebound after consecutive first-round knockout defeats to Michael Morales and Carlos Prates. Earlier in 2024, Magny secured a comeback TKO victory over Mike Malott at UFC 297, continuing a pattern of alternating wins and losses across his recent fights.
Nelson is making a quick return to action, competing twice within a year for the first time since 2019. Known as `Gunni`, his two-fight win streak was recently ended by Kevin Holland via an entertaining decision loss at UFC London in March. Before that, Nelson had secured victories over Bryan Barberena (submission) and Takashi Sato (decision).
The UFC 318 event is headlined by a highly anticipated trilogy bout for the BMF title between Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway, which Poirier has indicated will be his last professional fight.
