The Mexico City Formula 1 Grand Prix has officially secured its place on the F1 calendar until 2028, following the agreement of a new three-year extension.
This event marked its return to the Formula 1 schedule in 2015. Since then, among the drivers currently active in the sport, only Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz, and Max Verstappen have claimed victory at the Mexico City circuit.
Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali expressed his enthusiasm regarding the continuation of the race, stating, “We are very excited to announce that the Mexico City Grand Prix will continue to be part of our calendar until 2028.”
He highlighted the event`s significance, adding, “Formula 1 is energy, passion and emotion, and every year the unique atmosphere created by our fans in Mexico City is one of the most incredible and energetic experiences of our championship.”
Domenicali concluded by looking ahead, saying, “We look forward to continuing this extraordinary collaboration together and seeing the incredible enthusiasm of the Mexican fans again in October.”
