Michael Page Eyes Usman or Covington Showdown

Michael Page has set his sights on facing either Kamaru Usman or Colby Covington, two of the welterweight division`s elite fighters in recent years.

Coming off a triumphant middleweight debut at UFC Saudi Arabia, where he defeated Shara Magomedov via unanimous decision, Page, known as “MVP,” has reiterated his desire to return to the welterweight ranks despite a successful showing at 185 pounds.

Usman and Covington are the names Page is hoping to see across the octagon.

“Perhaps my last fight made some people hesitant, as things have been rather quiet,” Page commented at a UFC London fan event. “Many potential opponents exist. I believe a fight with Usman would be compelling. And for some reason, I really want to punch Colby Covington in the face. There are fighters out there, and I`m waiting for their response to my challenge.”

Page holds a 2-1 record since joining the UFC, including a victory over Kevin Holland at UFC 299 in April. His sole UFC loss was a close contest against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 303 two months later.

Should a fight with Covington materialize, Page aims for a decisive, highlight-worthy finish, reminiscent of his knockout victory over Evangelista Santos at Bellator 158 in 2016, a fight that marked the end of Santos’ career.

“I’m hoping to land another jumping knee to the face,” Page stated. “You’ve seen the result before, and I’m aiming for a similar outcome…

“[My goal is] two more significant fights this year. If I can punch Colby Covington in the face and then face another opponent ranked in the top 10 or top 5, it would be a very successful year.”
