Mirra Andreeva and Diana Schneider on Reaching Miami Final

17-year-old Mirra Andreeva and 20-year-old Diana Schneider shared their thoughts on reaching the final of the WTA 1000 women`s doubles tournament in Miami. They won against Xinyu Jiang and Fang-Hsien Wu in two sets, with a score of 6-0, 7-5.

When asked about their preference for early morning or late evening matches, considering their late finish around 10 pm, both players admitted they are not morning people.

Schneider mentioned that she prefers playing in the morning.

Andreeva added that she enjoys sleeping in and they had to adjust to the late schedule in Miami.

Regarding a critical moment at 5-3, 40/15 in their favor and losing three match points, Andreeva explained it was tough when Schneider lost her serve. She felt helpless during the first return down the line and although she reacted slightly on the second attempt, their opponents played well. Despite this, they quickly refocused and managed to close the match in two sets.

When questioned about the early exits of the top-seeded pair Townsend-Siniakova and Errani-Paolini, who defeated them in a previous final, Schneider responded that she doesn`t believe in weak opponents at this stage. She emphasized that only strong pairs remain and their recent opponents` victory over the top seeds speaks for itself. They are preparing for a challenging final regardless of the opponent, focusing on their strategies and anticipating a tough fight to win.

In the final, the Russian duo will compete against Cristina Bucșa from Spain and Miyu Kato from Japan.
