Mirra Andreeva Reflects on Loss to Coco Gauff: ‘Need to Better Understand Her Style’

Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva, ranked seventh in the world, shared her thoughts after being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 clay court tournament in Madrid, Spain.

In the match for a spot in the semifinals, Mirra lost to American Coco Gauff (world No. 4) with a score of 5/7, 1/6.

Commenting on the reasons for the defeat, Andreeva highlighted the importance of studying her opponent`s game: “Probably, I need to train with Coco more often to better understand her style and tactics. That would help me adapt better on the court. Unfortunately, we don`t have many joint practice sessions,” Mirra stated in an interview with BB Tennis.

The WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid took place from April 22 to May 3. The defending champion was Polish tennis player Iga Świątek.
