As the world of UFC continues to cross over into mainstream entertainment, the forthcoming Naked Gun film, which acts as a continuation of the beloved franchise, will feature appearances from several prominent figures within mixed martial arts.
Mark your calendars for August 1st, when the new comedy-action movie The Naked Gun arrives in theaters. This film serves as a legacy sequel to the classic series made famous by Leslie Nielsen. Starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, the movie maintains the spoof style of the original police comedies. While extensive plot details are still under wraps, it has been confirmed that the new installment will include a scene involving MMA.
A recently unveiled trailer showcases cameos by familiar MMA faces, including Justin Gaethje, Michael Bisping, Jon Anik, Bruce Buffer, and “Big” John McCarthy. Notably, the trailer depicts Liam Neeson`s character apparently landing punches on both Buffer and McCarthy.
The supporting cast also features WWE superstar Cody Rhodes (who is also associated with TKO Group), along with actors Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, and Danny Huston. The film is directed by Akiva Schaffer, an alumnus of Saturday Night Live, with Seth McFarlane, the creative mind behind Family Guy and Ted, serving as an executive producer.
