Nate Diaz Says He’d ‘Beat the Shit Out’ of Belal Muhammad After Watching UFC 315, Muhammad Fires Back

Nate Diaz recently watched Belal Muhammad compete and offered a typically confident assessment of how a fight between them would go. Whether he genuinely dislikes Muhammad`s skills or is simply exhibiting his characteristic self-belief is up for debate, but his comments certainly align with the persona of Stockton`s own.

The remarks were made during a travel vlog Diaz released, documenting trips to Thailand (where a planned reality show with Jon Jones didn`t pan out) and Hong Kong. While at a bar in Hong Kong, Diaz watched some recent UFC action.

Specifically, he tuned in for the UFC 315 main event where Jack Della Maddalena defeated Belal Muhammad by decision to become the new welterweight champion. While watching, Diaz shared his thoughts on a potential matchup with Muhammad.

Diaz stated plainly, “I`ll fight Belal`s ass,” and elaborated, adding, “I think I`d beat the shit out of Belal Muhammad.”

This bold declaration is typical of the 40-year-old veteran. Diaz hasn`t competed in mixed martial arts since his submission victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 in August 2022, which concluded his UFC contract. Since then, he has transitioned to boxing, facing Jake Paul (a loss) and Jorge Masvidal (a win).

For Muhammad, the loss to Della Maddalena snapped an impressive 11-fight unbeaten streak spanning six years. This run included a dominant decision victory over Leon Edwards to capture the welterweight title.

Muhammad, known as “Remember the Name,” quickly responded to Diaz`s remarks on social media, tweeting, “Must be on the same coke as Conor.”

Meanwhile, the new champion Della Maddalena is scheduled for his first title defense against Islam Makhachev, a friend and training partner of Muhammad`s. Makhachev is moving up from lightweight after vacating his title. This fight is anticipated in late 2025.

Diaz`s comments also revealed he was unfamiliar with Della Maddalena prior to the fight, admitting, “I don’t know the other guy.”
