World number one Novak Djokovic has offered words of support to Argentine tennis player Federico Gomez, who recently shared his personal battle with mental health challenges and admitted to experiencing suicidal thoughts.
Djokovic and Gomez had a practice session together at the Miami tournament, providing an opportunity for Djokovic to personally convey his encouragement.
In a statement reported by ESPN, Djokovic mentioned that while their initial conversation was brief, he intends to discuss the situation more thoroughly when they meet again. He emphasized his understanding of Gomez`s situation, acknowledging that mental health struggles are a common issue, especially in professional sports. Djokovic expressed his willingness to support Gomez in any way he can, should Gomez wish to share further.
