24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic has spoken about Stan Wawrinka continuing his professional career.
“People talk about my age, but what about his? He`s 40 and still strong. I love Stan, he is a phenomenal champion whose achievements are perhaps underestimated. He is a legend of our sport and a true inspiration. The amount of time he spends on the practice courts is admirable. He returns to Challengers without hesitation if needed.”
“If we play against each other, it will be a great veterans` duel! Maybe we will go down in history as the tennis players who played the oldest match,” Djokovic is quoted by L’Équipe.
It is worth mentioning that Djokovic and Wawrinka could have met in the second round of the Monte-Carlo Masters, but the Swiss player lost to Alejandro Tabilo in the first round (6-1, 5-7, 5-7).
