Paige VanZant is getting her wish.
The UFC and BKFC veteran is set to compete in the first-ever women`s title bout in Power Slap history. Her return to action is scheduled for June 27th during International Fight Week in Las Vegas.
VanZant will face Mikael-Michelle Brown in a rematch to crown the inaugural Power Slap women`s flyweight champion. The event is slated to take place at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas on June 27th.
In their initial meeting, VanZant secured a decisive victory, with all judges scoring the contest 30-27. Following that win, she publicly called for a Power Slap title opportunity.
After her victory, VanZant stated, “Hey Dana [White], where’s that [125-pound] belt, baby? Put me on the next card. Let’s get some women’s belts. We’re here to stay. We’re here to knock bitches out and slap people all day.”
Given her background in combat sports, including the UFC and later bare-knuckle boxing (BKFC), VanZant`s transition to Power Slap was initially met with some surprise. She won her debut Power Slap match but her second appearance resulted in a draw following an illegal blow.
She subsequently secured a victory in her third match held back in March, which is when she reiterated her desire for a future title bout.
Now, the 31-year-old has the opportunity to potentially add a championship to her fighting resume with the Power Slap title fight officially booked for June 27th.
