Naomi Osaka`s coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, has once again shared his perspective on the concept of superstars within women`s professional tennis.
Mouratoglou articulated a clear distinction, stating, “There`s a significant difference between being a top player who demonstrates incredible tennis and being a true star. I`ve previously explained that modern women`s tennis appears to be lacking in superstars. In my current view, there is only one superstar in the women`s game, and that is Coco Gauff. Her presence and aura are more powerful than anyone else`s.”
He further clarified his earlier remarks on the topic: “My comments weren`t meant to suggest that superstars would never emerge in the future. I was simply highlighting that women`s tennis *has* historically produced major, recognizable superstars, referring to iconic figures such as Serena Williams, Venus Williams, and Maria Sharapova.”
