On Saturday, Patrick Reed carded a round of 4-under 68 to establish a three-stroke advantage at LIV Golf Dallas, positioning himself for a potential first victory on the Saudi-funded circuit.
Having shared the lead after the opening round with his 4Aces teammate Harold Varner III following a 67, Reed`s Saturday performance at Maridoe Golf Club featured six birdies against two bogeys, bringing his total to 9-under 135. The 34-year-old, who claimed the 2018 Masters title, boasts nine career wins on the PGA Tour.
Paul Casey, with a 67, and Abraham Ancer, posting a 69, are currently tied for second place. Varner`s round of 72 saw him fall back into a tie for fifth at 5-under, alongside Tyrrell Hatton (65), Richard Bland (69), and David Puig (69).
Local favorite Bryson DeChambeau, who resides in Dallas and played collegiate golf at SMU, recorded his second consecutive round of 72.
In the team competition, the 4Aces squad holds a four-stroke lead.
Brooks Koepka, who withdrew from Friday`s play citing illness shortly after an incident where he broke his driver on the par-4 ninth hole, did not participate on Saturday. Under LIV rules, he was eligible to return for the weekend rounds, with his scores contributing solely to the team`s standing.
Koepka`s place for the remainder of the first round was filled by reserve player Luis Carrera.
