Pegula Prepares for Swiatek Challenge in Bad Homburg Final

Jessica Pegula of the United States after the semi-final of the 2025 Bad Homburg Open WTA 500 tennis tournament

World No. 3 Jessica Pegula shared her thoughts after reaching the final of the Bad Homburg Open. She secured her spot by defeating Linda Noskova in a tough three-set semifinal match with a score of 6-7(2), 7-5, 6-1.

Reflecting on her match against Noskova, Pegula commented that Linda`s serve was “unbelievable” and “almost impossible to read,” making the match difficult. She felt Noskova “held the game well” but noted that she started to anticipate the ball better towards the end. Pegula expressed satisfaction in her ability to regroup, find her game, and display her best tennis, even admitting she told herself at one point, `If you lose, but you did everything possible against a serve like that, it`s okay.` Ultimately, she persevered and found her rhythm.

Looking ahead to the final against World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, Pegula acknowledged the challenge. She stated that when Swiatek is in form, “her game is on another level.” Pegula highlighted Swiatek`s key strengths, including her “great return, excellent movement, flawless footwork, and the ability to dictate points in rallies,” describing her as a “versatile player” who has achieved great success. Pegula`s strategy for the final will be to “maximize the use of the grass court” to try and “disrupt her rhythm.” She noted that Swiatek looked dominant in her own semifinal, making the upcoming encounter interesting. Pegula also pointed out that this will be their “first match on grass” and concluded by saying she is “ready for the challenge.”
