Jason Jackson is one step closer to another championship run after a commanding performance at PFL 1.
The PFL 2025 tournament season began Thursday in Orlando, Florida, featuring welterweight and featherweight matchups. In the headline fight, Jason Jackson defeated Andrey Koreshkov with a technical submission in the second round, securing his place in the welterweight semifinals.
Following a competitive first round between the former Bellator welterweight champions, Jackson took control in the second. Despite a brief pause due to an accidental illegal elbow from Jackson, which opened a cut on Koreshkov, the fight continued. Jackson capitalized immediately, taking Koreshkov down and unleashing ground strikes before securing a rear-naked choke, forcing the submission.
In the co-main event, Jesus Pinedo, the 2023 featherweight champion, made a successful return, stopping Adam Borics in the first round. Pinedo, in his first fight since winning the title, showed no signs of ring rust, quickly overwhelming Borics with strikes to earn a TKO victory. Pinedo will now face Gabriel Braga in the semifinals, a rematch for the featherweight title.
In other welterweight action, Logan Storley, a former interim Bellator champion, secured a dominant unanimous decision win over Joseph Luciano to advance to the semifinals. Storley`s wrestling proved too much for Luciano, who stepped in as a late replacement.
Storley will face Masayuki Kikuiri in the semifinals.
Movlid Khaybulaev earned a narrow split decision victory over Jeremy Kennedy in a featherweight bout. Despite a strong start from Kennedy, Khaybulaev rallied to win the second round and ultimately secured the close decision.
Khaybulaev will face Ta Hyun Kim in the featherweight semifinals.
The preliminary card saw exciting finishes, with Thad Jean and Masayuki Kikuiri reaching the welterweight semifinals, and Ta Hyun Kim and Gabriel Braga advancing in the featherweight tournament. Jean impressed with a knockout victory and will now face Jason Jackson in the semifinals.
