The PFL Africa event will now take place sooner than initially planned.

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) announced on Tuesday that its inaugural event on the African continent has been rescheduled from July 26 to July 19.

The event will be held at the GrandWest Arena in Cape Town, South Africa. It consists of two parts. The second portion is a PFL Champions Series: Road to Dubai event, featuring middleweight champion Johnny Eblen defending his belt against Costello van Steenis in the main event.

The co-main event will see undefeated flyweight standout Dakota Ditcheva compete against Sumiko Inaba.

The first segment, officially titled PFL Africa 1, kicks off the league`s regional tournaments for the African heavyweights and bantamweights. The scheduled bouts for this part are:

PFL Africa 1 Tournament Bouts:

  • Bantamweight: Nkosi Ndebele vs. Mahmoud Atef
  • Heavyweight: Maxwell Djantou Nana vs. Mikael Groguhe
  • Bantamweight: Shannon Van Tonder vs. Boule Godogo
  • Heavyweight: Jashell Ticha Awa vs. Justin Clarke
  • Bantamweight: Antero Dos Santos vs. Karim Henniene
  • Heavyweight: Abdoullah Kane vs. Mohammed Ben Yahia
  • Bantamweight: Simbarashe Hokonya vs. Alain Majorique
  • Heavyweight: Badredinne Medkouri vs. TBD
  • Juliet Ukah vs. TBD

Interestingly, this change in date places the PFL event in direct conflict with UFC 318, which is headlined by a highly anticipated trilogy fight between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier, marketed as potentially Poirier`s final career bout.
