UFC fighter Sedriques Dumas is still incarcerated following his arrest in April on various charges, including home invasion, battery, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Details from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department police report, obtained recently, indicate the situation originated from a domestic violence incident involving the fighter and the mother of his children.
According to police accounts, they were dispatched to a residence regarding a disturbance. A woman, identified as Dumas`s ex-boyfriend with whom she shares a child, reported that Dumas entered her home through an unlocked front door. She claims he then “forcefully” opened the back door and aggressively took the phone she was holding, stating she was talking to her current boyfriend at the time. The victim reported that Dumas then stormed back into the house.
The victim stated she followed him, demanding her phone back and warning him he was going to jail. Police noted the victim recounted that Dumas allegedly responded, “if I’m going to jail then I’m going to get my rings back.”
Dumas reportedly then attempted to forcibly remove a ring from the victim’s finger but was unsuccessful. The victim claimed Dumas subsequently “threw her around the room,” causing her to collide with a large wooden vase, before allegedly taking a necklace valued at $400 from her neck and leaving the property.
After allegedly taking the necklace and phone, Dumas supposedly returned to his black BMW and drove away, only to come back moments later and throw her phone into the front yard from his vehicle. The victim told police she then asked someone nearby to call 911. She informed officers that Dumas had previously lived with her at the residence but had moved out in December.
Police described the victim as being “crying and shaking” and observed “fresh scratches and bruises on her right leg and right arm,” along with “several small fresh scratch marks on her fingers.”
While officers were present at the residence taking the report, the victim reportedly continued receiving calls she identified as being from Dumas, as well as calls from his new girlfriend. The victim also claimed to have received a text message from Dumas`s girlfriend saying, “You OK, please don’t put him in jail.”
Authorities documented the victim`s injuries with photographs and collected records of calls and texts from Dumas and his new girlfriend. The victim also provided a photo showing her wearing the necklace she claimed the UFC veteran had stolen.
Police indicated that deputies later arrived at a residence where Dumas’s black BMW was parked. Upon making contact with his new girlfriend, she reportedly granted permission for law enforcement to search the building and backyard.
Dumas was subsequently located and detained by authorities while allegedly “hiding in a dog crate in a shed on the back of the property.”
A search conducted on Dumas’s vehicle under probable cause allegedly uncovered a large plastic bag containing approximately 51 grams of marijuana. The deputy also reported finding a black Beretta handgun inside a UFC bag, along with other prescription drugs.
Police noted they recognized Dumas as a professional UFC fighter based on prior encounters.
The search of his vehicle also purportedly yielded “several half burnt marijuana joints” and a “broken piece of necklace” on the driver’s side floorboard.
Police stated that Dumas was arrested but agreed to speak with them at the scene. He claimed he had permission to enter the residence to retrieve his belongings and found the front door unlocked. Dumas alleged that upon making contact with the victim, she gave him the necklace, but refused to give him the ring, and then “started hitting him.” Dumas further claimed the victim threw the wooden vase at him and scratched his leg. Regarding his location at the time of arrest, Dumas told police that his girlfriend informed him the police had arrived, which is why he “hid in the shed.”
Dumas reportedly had fresh cuts on his leg, which were photographed by police.
Police confirmed Dumas possessed a valid medical marijuana card, which was taken into evidence. However, during checks, police discovered Dumas was a convicted felon from a previous incident in 2024 (as stated in the report).
Following these findings, police seized Dumas’s BMW. The marijuana, half-burnt joints, a marijuana grinder, and the Beretta handgun were all collected and submitted as evidence.
Police determined that based on the facts and circumstances of the situation, they had sufficient “probable cause to arrest Dumas” on multiple charges. These include home invasion/robbery, battery (domestic violence), possession of marijuana over 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Dumas was transported to jail, where he remains in custody. His bond is set at $558,500, and his next court appearance is scheduled for May 23.
The 29-year-old fighter had competed in the UFC just two weeks before his arrest, where he lost to Michał Oleksiejczuk via first-round TKO. As of now, UFC officials have not issued a statement regarding Dumas’s arrest.
