Rory McIlroy`s four-year-old daughter, Poppy, became the star of the show at the Masters Par 3 contest on Wednesday. She sank a remarkable 25-foot downhill putt with apparent ease.
Expectations were naturally low when Poppy approached her ball on the ninth green, holding the putter in just one hand. However, she surprised everyone by gently tapping the ball, watching it curve perfectly towards the hole.
As the ball dropped into the hole, Rory Lowry reacted with astonishment, throwing his hands up in the air. Poppy celebrated her successful putt with a heartwarming hug from her father.
McIlroy commented to reporters that ending their major preparations with such an enjoyable afternoon was fantastic, especially after waiting nine months since the last major tournament.
He added that by this point, players are either ready or not for the Masters. He emphasized the importance of enjoying the moment, going home for dinner, and relaxing before the tournament begins on Thursday.
McIlroy is considered a top contender for this year`s Masters. Starting on Thursday, he will be aiming to secure the coveted green jacket and become only the sixth golfer to achieve a career Grand Slam.
